I participated in a panel at ALA on discovery and wrote up some notes
on it at the Scholarly Kitchen. One commenter asked for more
information on a particular issue: What is the role of the Web-scale
search engines in library discovery? How is that usage measured? And
what kind of access to users get from search engines?
I don't know the answers to these questions. Can anybody provide some
more information on this? I have been told by librarians that over
50% of the usage of their materials came from Google and Google
Scholar, but I neglected to ask the important question: what kind of
usage?
