*Position Summary*


The Duke University Libraries (DUL) seeks an enthusiastic, conscientious,
and service-oriented Electronic Resources Management Librarian to engage in
supporting the life cycle of electronic resources and work collaboratively
with units across Technical Services and throughout the DUL system to
provide access to primarily electronic continuing resources. Under the
supervision of the Head of the Continuing Resource Acquisitions Department,
the successful candidate must demonstrate self-motivation and initiative,
innovative approaches to problem solving, a positive learning attitude and
the ability to thrive in a rapidly changing environment.


*Responsibilities *



   - Participates in all aspects of continuing and electronic resource
   acquisitions including: trials, ordering, receipt/activation, access,
   maintenance, assessment, and renewals/cancelations.
   - Oversees the activation and maintenance of electronic resources access
   in the knowledgebase of DUL access management systems; interacts with
   publishers, vendors and aggregators to acquire, establish, and ensure
   consistent access to library holdings across multiple platforms.
   - Participates in the licensing team to evaluate and negotiate terms
   relating to electronic content.
   - Participates in the development of workflows and policies for handling
   continuing and electronic resource acquisition, access, and maintenance.
   - Participates in data gathering and evaluation of pricing, usage, and
   other metrics to support collection assessment, budget processes and annual
   reporting requirements.
   - Stays informed of trends in electronic resource access and
   discoverability and recommend changes to existing tools and workflows as
   appropriate.
   - Serves on relevant library and consortia committees as it relates to
   functional expertise and/or professional development.
   - Display continuing growth in professional and subject knowledge and
   take an active interest in the profession. Growth and interest should be
   demonstrated through continuing development of professional knowledge and
   abilities, membership and participation in professional organizations, and
   service to the library, University, or community in a professional capacity.

*Supervisory Responsibilities*

·         May supervise student assistants as needed.

*Qualifications*

*Required:* ALA-accredited MLS or advanced degree in related field, or
relevant combination of education and experience


*Experience:*


*Required: *Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication
skills; demonstrated analytical, organizational, time and project
management skills; demonstrated initiative, flexibility, and ability to
work creatively and effectively both independently and as a team member;
understanding (through experience or coursework) of current models,
practices, and tools used by academic libraries for the licensing,
acquisition, access, and discoverability of e-resources; and interest in
professional development and engagement.

*Preferred: *Experience in an academic library; experience working with an
Integrated Library System or a next-generation resource management system;
knowledge of ERM (electronic resource management) systems; broad
understanding of technical services operations; knowledge of industry
standards related to serials and electronic resources, e.g., ISSN, Open
URL, KBART, ERMI, SERU, COUNTER, SUSHI, etc; and familiarity with fund
management and budget processes.


*Working Conditions *

·         Must be able to lift 25 pounds.

·         Must be able to work in an environment in which exposure to
materials containing dust and mold is possible

·         Normal office environment

·         Occasional travel required

*Salary and Benefits*

Salary and rank dependent on qualifications and experience. Comprehensive
benefits package includes 20 days vacation, 13 holidays, 12 days sick
