*Charleston, South Carolina*: ATG Media is proud to announce the launch of
the all new Charleston Briefings. The Briefings will be a series of short
books on the topic of innovation in the world of libraries and scholarly
communication. The default format for the Briefings is an open access
e-book made available through Michigan Publishing’s e-book hosting platform
at www.charlestonbriefings.com. We will also offer the customer the option
to purchase a print-on-demand version.

The intended audience for the Briefings is the same audience that attends
the Charleston Conference: librarians, publishers, entrepreneurs in
information technology, vendors and consultants. The series will offer
timely, readable, and focused treatments of topics of significance to
practitioners in these fields. The purpose of the series is to offer the
reader a useful overview that will allow them to engage more effectively
with new trends and innovations in their industry.

“*Charleston Briefings: Trending Topics for Information Professionals* is a
thought-provoking series of brief books concerning innovation in the sphere
of libraries, publishing, and technology in scholarly communication,” says
Matthew Ismail, series Editor in Chief. “The briefings, growing out of the
vital conversations characteristic of the Charleston Conference and Against
the Grain, will offer valuable insights into the trends shaping our
professional lives and the institutions in which we work.”

Katina Strauch, Publisher and Owner, remarks, “So many emerging topics that
need to be explored can get lost in the blur of too much. We wanted a
great vehicle for short, pithy, readable discussions of hot topics and
innovations. There are so many exciting developments today. By offering
either open access or inexpensive alternatives for print and e-book
formats, we can highlight some of these emerging topics through the
considerable expertise of these talented authors while promoting
professional growth of our readers.”

*About the Charleston Briefings:*
