> Monograph publishing operates differently, of course. In that sector reviewers do get paid, albeit modest sums called "honoraria." In university press publishing, surpluses realized from journal publishing usually have been used to help subsidize monograph publishing, so I'm wondering why this new model doesn't allow for this cross-subsidization that has long been a tradition in university press publishing.
