Hi Bernhard,

Thanks for your really useful feedback.

Our intention was to explore researchers’ views on some practical options
for achieving wider open access. Subscription and hybrid journals, which
currently rely on subscriptions to support publication of non-OA articles,
may well need to charge a researcher’s funder or institution (or the author
themselves) an APC if they became fully open access, in order to remain
sustainable in the long term. That’s the particular scenario we were
exploring with this question, which is why we went with that wording.

Kind regards,

Rachel

Hi Rachel, Don't you think the question was asked in a biased way?

T&F asked:
"would you submit your work to a fully open access journal which charged
for publication and published no subscription content?"

What do you think about:
"would you submit your work to a journal which publishes all articles open
access free for everybody to read and does not charge the libraries for
subcription fees?"

By using a non-neutral way of explaining Gold OA in the question you might
have influenced the answers.

Best regards,
Bernhard
