Sandy:  I read your comment from Germany where indeed the use of
capitalization takes on a different dimension than in English.

In this case it was neither the ambition to change the rules of
grammar or nor a poor memory of the fundamentals of the Elements of
Style that caused some of the errant line breaks, capitalization and
punctuation in my original post. The document I wrote had been heavily
reviewed and proofed: unfortunately in the transition between Word and
 Outlook - which I had written in "HTML on" and then converted to
plain text and import into listservs, some digital magic happened with
strange line wraps and added caps.  Perhaps another example of our
need to be more au fait with the world of listservs and blogs.

Apologies to anyone troubled by the unorthodox style.  Brandon Nordin
