I have been trying for some time now to figure out how many academic
books, university press books in particular, are sold to libraries.
It turns out that this is a tough problem. I just posted on this

The question comes down to how many libraries purchase books from
Amazon and to what extent. Sales from other library vendors are
pretty much known. But Amazon is a black hole.
I would be interested to learn more about libraries' use of Amazon as a vendor.
