Dear Jan,

Thanks for your message on 60,000 diamonds. Your list is very valuable in
that it is much more inclusive than most other lists, like DOAJ or even
ROAD from the ISSN-registry.

Just a note that of course your list includes journals with and without
APC. So, it's not really 60,000 diamonds. It would be extremely helpful if
you could add whether a journal has an APC or not, though I understand that
is a lot of work. I say this because the APC-based journals are out of
reach for most authors wanting to publish. Also, at a system level they
make it harder for the diamond journals, as they draw away resources from
universities and funders that could be used to support the diamond journals.

Please excuse me for also asking a question that you may have been asked
dozens of times already: do you have any plans to at some point also
publish the list as csv (spreadsheet) data, maybe even with an open license?

Many thanks for all the work you continue to put into your list.

Kind regards,
Jeroen Bosman

Now Jan maintains what is probably the world’s largest list of open access
journals in the humanities and social sciences, which he makes publicly
available. Titles on the list come from all over the world and in many
languages, and cover a wide range of humanities and social sciences
disciplines, including music, philosophy, art and history.

In 2018, the published list included 35,000 open access titles. The list
grew to 50,000 titles in 2021. This expanded list from 2023 now includes 60,000
titles. A list of 70,000 titles is expected by the end of 2025.

Report of the 2nd Diamond Open Access Conference

The 2nd Diamond Open Access Conference brought together stakeholders from
around the globe to explore, discuss, and share insights on the diamond
open access scholarly communication ecosystem.

This report reflects the mission of the conference to showcase good
practices and policies from all over the world, offering attendees a
comprehensive perspective on the role of diamond open access in scholarly
communication. The Conference focused specifically on five key elements of
diamond open access: infrastructure, policy development, governance,
research evaluation and recognition, and sustainability.

The event took place on 25 and 26 October 2023 in Toluca, México. It was
co-organised by Science Europe, cOAlition S, OPERAS, and the French
National Research Agency (ANR).
