Thanks for clarifying that Gemma - it might be worth looking at the FAQs to
make them a little clearer?
Regards,
Danny

Hi Danny
We have launched mirror journals as a pilot and this has so far been
received very positively by our research communities. As part of this pilot
five journals have an ongoing hybrid OA offering in the parent journal.
This is to help us test and learn with this new publishing model and to
understand author preferences.
Where the original parent journal remains hybrid (and therefore OA
publication is an option in this journal too), the author will be given the
choice to publish OA in either the hybrid or the mirror journal when they
make their decision about which business model to publish under.
Best

Thanks Ann,
I have yet to get a response to Elsevier from my Twitter questions
https://twitter.com/dannykay68/status/1132422862000742400
QUESTION of Elsevier re mirror journal process https://www.
elsevier.com/connect/what-a
re-mirror-journals-and-can-they-offer-a-new-world-of-open-access …
<https://t.co/wuVvgAKOCt> - are the original journals still hybrid? Can an
author pay to make article OA within original journal *or* the mirror X
journal? Or if they choose OA option it will automatically get pushed to
the X journal?
UNCLEAR: "You might have submitted your article when the original journal
was a hybrid title. If the case, to ensure that we continue to offer you
all the options that were available to you at submission, you can still
publish OA in the original journal." https://www. <https://t.co/202MTw6E2O>

If anyone else knows I’d be glad to hear.
Danny

From April 4th in case you missed it:
*What are mirror journals, and can they offer a new world of open access?*
*Pilot program gives authors another way to publish OA while enjoying the
benefits of an established journal*
